
With over three decades of experience in the London and international insurance markets, Alastair is a leading aviation risk specialist recognised for his expertise across all classes of coverage. He began his career in 1993 as an Assistant Underwriter at Sturge Syndicate 960, later becoming Assistant to the Active Underwriter following the syndicate’s acquisition by Ace Group in 1997. A move to Wellington’s Aviation division in 1999 saw him play a key role in building its reputation as a recognised force in the field. After Wellington merged with Catlin in 2007, he established the Aviation Division at Mitsui Sumitomo’s Syndicate 3210, where his leadership and technical prowess saw him rise to Head of Division.
Alongside his professional achievements, Alastair has contributed extensively to the broader insurance community. He has served on several international and London insurance committees, most notably as Chairman of the Airline Committee of the International Union of Aerospace Insurers for eight years. Before joining Alchemy Underwriting in October 2025, he was Deputy Global Head of Aviation at Swiss Re.
